HOSPITALS AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

The adjourned meeting of the Westland Hospitals and Charitable Aid Board was held at Hokitika on Wednesday, at 10 a.m.; present —The Chairman (Mr H. Michel), Messrs Burger, Grimmond, and Jack. CORRESPONDENCE. From Dr. M'Leod, Ross, stating that if the Board would give him tlnve months' salary and pay his drnw account, he would leavo at once.—Received, and matter held over. From Dr. Davy, of Kumara, forwarding his resignation to the Board as Surgeon-Superintendent of the Kumara Hospital.—Received. From the Government with reference to Anne Phelan, of Kumara, asking for a continuation of the relief hitherto granted to her.—Received, and matterheld over. From R. E. Wylde, Secretary Kumara Hospital, stating that the Hospital Committee had no power to act as a benevolent society, and, in consequence, were unable to afford relief to Mrs Phelan.—Received, and the Secretary ordered to write and inform Mr Wylde that the Benevolent Society should try and form a committee for carrying on charitable aid. From the Premier's Office, stating that the sum of .£496 6s 7d, the amount of the subsidy on the money raised by the local bodies has been placed to the Board's credit.—Received. From IT. S. Wales, auditor, forwarding auditor's report.—Received. RECEIPTS AND EXPENDITURE. Receipts, £492 4s lOd; expenditure, £419 16s 4d. Credit balance in Bank, £251 17s lOd. Accounts to the amount of £7O were passed for payment, and, this concluding the business, the Board adjourned.
