Phelan and family, who. have been in receipt of charitable aid from the Benevolent Society ; and have the honour to inform you that the Trustees, after considering the "Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act," and especially clause 30, have come to the conclusion that they have not the powers and functions of a Benevolent Society. The following communication was read from Dr. Davy, Surgeon-Superin tendent of the Hospital:— The Chairman Hospital Trustees' Board. Dear Sir—l acknowledge the receipt of your letter informing me of the resolution of the Committee. The year of office expires for me at the end of May, and also the month from the date of my first letter to the Committee, with the addition of a few days. My former notice was erroneous, and I now advise you that I shall bring my duties here to a close at the expiration of the interval mentioned.— I am, dear sir, sincerely yours, T. D. Davy. Kumara, May Ist, 188 G. The Chairman sti.t-d that owing to one of the Friendly Societies not having yet met to consider the question of applications for a surgeon-superin-tendent, the Committee appointed had not yet drawn out the advertisement calling for applications. It was arranged that the .subcommittee meet on Monday evening next. The Wardsman's Report wmk read and received. It showed that the total number of in-patients treated during April was five only, of which number two had been discharged cured, leaving three under treatment at the end of the month. A. The Secretary laid upon the table several tenders for cleanup, grulibinir, and fencing with wire the Hospital Reserve. He also read the specifications for the work tendered for, Mr Burger suggested that before the tenders were opened it would be advisable that the ground of the Hospital Reserve proposed to be cleared be marked off in allotments, to enable, the work to he done in smaller contracts. Mr Mansfield then moved—" Tint the House Committee mirk off the Hospital Reserve in one acre sections ; and that fresh tenders be called for next meeting; and that tenderers have, their tenders (unopened) returned." The motion was seconded by Mr Ziegler, and carried. The time for receiving tenders was extended to the 18th inst. The Secretary presented a proof of the rules and regulations for Hospital management.
