[REUTERS TELEGRAMS.] By Electric Telegraph.— Copyright. SMALL-POX OK BOARD THE CHIMBORAZO. MEETINGS on the NEW HEBRIDES QUESTION COLLIERY EXPLOSION AT LITHGOW. SIX MEN KILLED. (Received April 19, 1.15 p.m) Melbourne, April 19. The Chiniborazo has arrived here from Adelaide, and has been placed in quarantine for fourteen days on account of u case of small-pox, which has occurred during, the voyage to Australia. The disease is not spreading beyond one patient landed at Adelaide. The ship's doctor reports that all the other passengers are in good health. (Received April 20, 1.30 p.m.) April 20. The agitation against the French occupation of the New Hebrides continues throughout the colony. At the annual meeting of the Melbourne Chamber of Commerce, held yesterday, a resolution was passed protesting against the French annexation of the islands in question. A large public meeting was also held last night in the Town Hall, under the presidency of Alderman J. C. Stewart, Mayor of Melhourne. A resolution of a similar purport was unanimously adopted. (Received April 19, 1 a.m.) Adelaide, April 19. The Messageries Maritimes steamship Oceanien arrived this afternoon, with English mails to March Bth. Sydney, April 19. Telegrams from Lithgow announce (hat a disastrous explosion occurred this afternoon at the Lithgow Colliery Company's pit, which took fire a short time ago. At the timeof the explosion ten men were in the workings. Five were killed, and the others rescued alive.

(Received April 20, 1.30 p.m.) April 20. Another death lias occurred from the explosion of fire-damp at the Lithgow colliery. The remaining fonr men °are progressing favourably towards recovery. All the six men killed are married men, and a distressing scene occurred at the pit's month when the news of the accident became known. There was no lack of volunteers to search for their comrades, and their efforts to rescue them weve of a most heroic nature.
