(Dates from Europe March 12.) In Hie House of Commons, on the evening of March 9, Dillwyn (Liberal) moved to disestablish the. Church of Wales. Gray moved to reform instead of disestablish. The Hon. Wm. Harconrt contended that the question of disestablishment of the Welsh and English churches ivas involved and inseparable. Gray's amendment was first adopted by a vote of 241 to 229 and then a substitute for Dillwhn'a motion was rejected by a vote of 346 to 49. In the 6rst division the majority consisted of Liberals and Parnellires; in the second division the Parnellites left the House in a body. Gladstone, Motley, Chamberlain, and Trevelyan abstained from voting. Early in March tremendous snowstorms prevailed in the north of England, suspending traffic on many railwi.ys. The suffering among the passengers on the various trains which have been snow-bound was very <n-eat. Some of the trains were embedded in the snow drifts forty-eight hours. The loss of cattle in transit was enormous. Hart, a rich procuress in the West End of London, was committed for trial (March 9), charged- with providing voting g i,-Is for a number of aristocrats.
