THE UNEMPLOYED IN ADELAIDE. (Received April 2, 2.40 p.m.) Melbourne, April 2. The Argus this morning publishes an authoritative denial of the rumours which have been current here to the effect that the defalcations of Holt, the Sydney manager of the Bank of New Zealand, amounted to between £IOO 000 and £200,000. The correspondence between the Victorian Government and the Imperial authorities on the New Hebrides question was published to-day, including a telegram despatched on the 24th March, by the Premier, the Hon. Duncan Gillies, to Murray-Smith, Agent-Gen-eral, stating that if the surrender of the New Hebrides to France was allowed to-day by Great Britain, Australasia, would assuredly take them back when she was able.
(Received April 3,2 p.tn.) April 3. Arrived, this morning, ilie Ringarooma from the Bluff. Public meetings are being organised throughout the country for the purpose of supporting the Government in their protest against the annexation of New Hebrides by France.
The repairs to the steamship Waihora are now nearly completed. It is expected the cost of the work will amount to fully .£6OOO.
(Received April 3, 10,20 p. m.) Sydney, April 2. Applications have been received from a number of recent arrivals from New Zealand requesting the Government to "ive them employment upon relief works.

(Received April 3, 1.15 a.m.) In the Legislative Assembly to-day Sir Henry Parkes brought forward a motion having reference to the attitude of New South Wales on the New Hebrides question. Sir Patrick Jennings, on behalf of the Government, slated (hat the motion was taken as a vote of censure, and refused to deliver a Budget statement until the question was settled. The House adjourned until Tuesday next.

April 3. The motion which was brought forward yesterday in the Legislative Assembly by Sir Henry Parkes, which was taken by Government as a vote of want of confidence, to the effect that any expression acquiesced in by Parliament of New South Wales in annexing New Hebrides by France is opposed to the true interest of New South Wales and the other colonies of Australasia, and it is the duty of this colony to convey to the Imp-rial Government its disapproval of such course.
(Received March 2, 7.30 p.ra.) Adelaide, April 2. It is intended to hold, a largo mass meeting of the unemployed here to-day for the purpose of presenting a memorid to the Premier, the Hon. Mr Downer, on the snbject of finding work. Failing to obtain an interview with Downer, it is intended that the demonstration should proceed to Government House, and see his Excellency the Governor.
