Christchurch, March 17. ( A. Mrs Sheehan attempted suicide at ' Taitapu to-day by cutting her throat. She partially severed the windpipe, but as none of the arteries were cut there are hope 3 of her recovery. John M'Nally, employed as a lineman by the Telegraph Department, was killed at Waipawa to-day. Hr was in the act of removing the blinkers from a horse attached to a waggon, when the animal bolted and the waggou wheel passed over the man's head, killing him almost instantaneously. He leaves a wife and child. Another case of suicide is reported. John M'NmII, a laborer employed at Messrs M'Cafferty and M'Kendry's farm, about three miles from Methven, cut his throat, and died from the effects of the wound. Wellington, March 18. Ministers will shortly be moving again. Mr Ballauce leaves for Wanganui on Saturday. Mr Stout will pVobably visit the south for a few days, leaving on Monday. Mr L>»rnach will •shortly make a tour of the South Island mining districts, visiting the West Coast first. Mr Buckley intends to proceed to Auckland shortly, and Mr Richardson will, as soon as departmental work allows him, visit the West Coast of the South Island. Auckland, March 17. At a meeting of the native members of the Koman Catholic Church held at Hokianga it was determined to petition the Pope to appoint Dr. M'Donald Bishop for the native race. His Holiness is also to be asked to improve the standing of the native deacons.
