The following is the first list of tenders received for the extension contract of the Kumara sludge-channel, handed to us by the Mines Department for general information. They are the total amount of schedule of prices—a very unsatisfactory way, no doubt, of publishing them, as the price here stated includes 29 different items tendered for. We would willingly print them in extenso for the information of the tenderers, if that were allowed, but as the unsuccessful contractors' tenders have been returned, that.seems now impossible. £ s - d - Amos Nicolson, accepted ... 118 10 0 Sullivan and Ryan, declined 125 8 8 T - Oliver „ 184 9 6 Raleigh and M 'Donald, informal M'Keegan and Brown, „ J. Morgan Nicholson's contract, although accepted, was not taken up, and fresh tenders were called, resulting, it will be remembered, in the acceptation of Sullivan and Ryan's tender, £l2l 3s. The mail coach returned this afternoon just in time to catch the Greymouth tram. Commander Edwin wired at 3.30 p.m. this afternoon—"lndications for much colder weather to-night." The "Called Back" Company played at the Public Hall, Greymouth, last night, to, we observe, one of the largest audiences ever assembled there. They will arrive in Kumara to-morrow morning, and in the evening, at the Theatre Royal' will no doubt raise the curtain to a very large house, judging from the many eucomiums which have been passed upon the merits of their previous performances here and elsewhere. A man named Davis was killed at Nelson Creek yesterday afternoon by being trodden on by a horse. In Wellington yesterday, on the application to strike Mr E. Shaw off the roll of barristers and solicitors, judgment was reserved. Joe Scott, who is at present in Melbourne, has arranged a six days' match with Edwards for £2OO and the championship of Australia. The contest is to commence on April 11th in the Melbourne Exhibition Building, if available ; otherwise in the Exhibition Building, Alfred Park, Sydney. The Presbyterians of Tokomairiro have determined to erect a new church building W. J. M'llroy and Co., Main street, Kumara, beg to announce that they are purchasers of gold.—[Aim'.] Notice. Several cases of splendid Boots and Shoes have just arrived, and are now open to view at M. Wall's Boot and Shoe Shop, Main street. Prices low. [A DVT.
