[REUTERS TELEGRAMS.] By Electric Telegraph. —Copyright. — STEAMSHIP MOVEMENTS. THE ELECTIONS IN VICTORIA. THE ELECTIONS IN NEW SOUTH WALES. DIFFICULTY IN FORMING A TASMANIAN MINISTRY. (Received March 5, 10.30 p.m.) Adelaide, March 5. The seeamship Cuzco, which arrived this morning, brings English mails to January 39th. Melbourne, March 5, The steamship Te Anau arrived from the Bluff this morning. (Received March 6, 1.15 a.m.) Evening. The complete returns of 28 electorates are to hand. So far, 22 supporters of the Coalition Ministry have been returned, including Mr Walker, Commissioner for Customs; Mr Pearson, Minister for Education; Mr Nimmo, Minister for Public Works; and Mr Davis, who has a seat in the Ministry without a portfolio. The following are among the more prominent Ministerial supporters elected : Messrs Langridge, Coppin, Zox, Tucker, aud Bosisto. Thirteen Opposition members have been elected, including Messrs Bent, Goldsmith, Munro, MTnlyre, A. T. Clark, and Colonel Smith. Eight members have been returned as Independents. Mr James Mirams was rejected by the Collingwood electorate, aud Sir Charles MacMahora [M.L.A. for West Melbourne] retired. . (Received March 6, 1.20 p.m.) March 6. From approximate returns to hand it appeals that fifty-four supporters of the Coalition Ministry have been returned, against eighteen declared Opposition members and fourteen Independent. All the Ministers have been elected with the exception of Mr James, Minister of Mines, who was defeated by a small majority. Among the prominent members elected are Messrs Harper and Madden (Constitutional, ists), Patterson (Opposition), and Messrs Wood and Lalor (Independents). Among the rejected candidates are found Messrs Langton, Duffy, Angus M‘ Kay, and Fiucham, All the candidates who stood on the Labor ticket suffered defeat. The elections passed off quietly, no signs of disorder being visible at any of the polling-places. (Received March 5, 10.30 p. in.) Sydney, March 5. It is not considered likely that the return of any of the Ministry seeking reelectiou in consequence of assuming office will bo opposed. At to-day’s market New Zealand wheat shows an advance of twopence a bushel, and is quoted at 3s Bd. New Zealand oats remain at 2s 4d; maize, oGlbs., is worth 3s 3d being an advance of 3d since last report. (Received March 6, 1.20 p.m.) Hobart Town, March 6. Dr. W. Agnew, being unable to form a Ministry, has relinquished the task, and Mr Dodds, Attorney-General in the late Administration has been charged with forming a Ministry.
