KUMARA HOSPITAL.
The ordinary meeting of the Hospital Committee was held in the Town Hall on Tuesday evening ; present—Messrs Rudkin, (in the chair), Voysey, Watson, Burger, Hope, Wildridge, Woold ridge, G. Anderson, and W. Morris. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.
The outward correspondence was read and approved of. The inward correspondence was received and considered.
Letter from Mr R. H. Govett, Premier's Office, Wellington, notifying that the substance of the petition for the incorporation of the Kumara Hospital as a separate institution was gazetted on the 28th January.—Received.
Circular from the Imperial Fire Insurance Company, stating that the premium (£5) on insurance of Hospital (.£400) expires at noon on the 21st March, and unless the premium be paid on or before that date, the Committee could not recover any loss that may be sustained.—The letter was received, and it was resolved that the premium be paid. Telegram from Mr R. H. Govett to the Secretary (Mr R. E. Wylde) dated March 2, stating that "An Order-in-Counci), incorporating the Hospital was signed to-day. Please name a convenient day, hour and place for the Governor to appoint first meeting of contributors. Time must be given for publishing notice of meeting in local papers, as required by section 49."
The letter was received, and it was resolved that the Secretary inform Mr Govett that the most, convenient date would be the 22nd March, at 8 p.m., at the Town Hall, Knmara. The Wardsman's Report" for tho month of February was read and received. It showed that the total number of in-patients treated during that time was six, of which number three were discharged, cured or relieved, leaving three in the Hospital. John Matson and Csesar Michel were discharged cured; R. Pitway was discharged relieved; and S. Hughston, of hemorrhoids, Carl Kazelmacher, of a fractured leg, and John Barnett, of fistula, remained under treatment. The balance-sheet for the quarter ending December 31, 1885, was read, adopted, and ordered to lie on the table. It showed a credit balance in Bank of £23 19s, and Government subsidy due to end of year £37 10s 3d ; and the liabilities at that date were set down as nil.
The Secretary reported having paid urgent accounts due for the months of October and November, amounting to £ll 2s.
It was resolved that the Secretary be authorised to urge upon the Board the necessity of paying the accounts due for the months of October and November, 1885 ; also that application be made to- the Board for all monevs clue to the end of February, 1886. The Secretary was instructed to write to Messrs M'Fetrich and Caldwell, Trustees for Samuel Hughston, acknowledging the receipt of their donation.
MrVoysey was elected on the House Committee, vice Mr Wooldridge, who retires r>y rotation. , The Secretary was also instructed to prepare a statement of accounts, to be laid before the meeting of contributors. Accounts to the amount of £57 16s 6d were passed for payment. Receipts were handed in as follow : Bv Mr W. Morris, £2; Mr Wooldridge, £2; Mr Vovsev, £3 10s; Mr Hope, £1 10s; Mr Wildridge, £2; Mr G. Anderson, £1 ; Mr Watson, 10s; and, by the Wardsman, 17s; being a total of £l3 7s.
