AUSTRALIAN CRICKETERS FOR ENGLAND.
The final selection by the Melbourne Cricket Club of the Australian Eleven wjiich is to vi.Ht England during the Koine, summer months has been made, Victoria sends J. Blackham, W. Bruce' J. M'llwraith, G. Palmer, H. J. Scott’ F. Spofforth, and J. W. Trumble, New South Wales sends G. J. Bounor E Evans, T. Garrett, and S. P. Jones’ ami South Australia sends G. Giffeu ami A. H. Jarvis. Bruce, Evans M'llwraith, and Trumble (“Felix” in the Australasian slates) have never b« en to England with any cricket team, and it they show anything like their true Australian form, the verdict of the connoisseurs in England will be that they are a really first-class quartette. Evans name is a household word in Australia, and in England everybody will be delighted to see him, and to know him not only as a cricketer but as a man. It is well known that all previous Australian teams tried hard, but unsuccessfully, to secure the services of the New South Welshman, and the M.C.C. may there fore be regarded as being especially fortunate in getting him to take the trip. The Hon. Iv o Efigh stales that Evans will be a greater attraction than any Ans. i aliaa crcketer who has ever visited England, Tffa
precision and accuracy as a bowler will be just the thing for the sticky wickets in England, and on fast wickets no bowler can surpass him in keeping down runs.
