It has been arranged that Mr Garvan’s no-confidence motion shall take precedence over all business. A majority of members of the Legislative Assembly favour Sir Patrick Jennings, the present leader of the Opposition, being intrusted with the formation of a new Ministry. An open breach occurred last night between Sir Henry Parkes and Sir John Robertson, Premier. (Received February 12, 1 a.m.) Later. In the Assembly to-day the debate on Mr Garvan’a no-confidence motion was commenced, and is still (11 p.m.) proceeding. (Received February 12, 12.45 p.m.) February 12. The Government has resolved to abandon the proposed scheme of taxation on stocks held by merchants’ warehouse stores. A somewhat serious collision took place outside the Heads at an early hour this morning between the steamers Newcastle and Namoi. There was a thick fog at the time, which prevented the vessels seeing each other. The Newcastle has sustained a considerable amount of damage, while the injury to the Namoi is but of a slight character. Melbourne, February 12. It is expected that Messrs Service and Berry will tender their formal resignations early next week, and ParI iamerit dissolve about February 20tb.
