[united press ASSOCIATION.! Nelson, February 7. Three men were injured yesterday by the collapse of a brick bridge in course of construction in Nile street. William Hollyman, bricklayer, and Horton, a labourer, were buried beneath the bricks, etc., on the work collapsing, as the centres were being removed. Both were got out and the former sustained h compound fracture of the leg, and fractures of the arm above the elbow and below (he elbow bonp, and the tendons were laid bare. Horton was not so severely injured, and the third man, Hooker, was knocked into the water, but not much hart. The cause of the accident is attributed to the removal of the centres before the cement and mortar had set. Gisborne, February 7. Two extremely severe shocks of earthquake were felt at 1.3 a.m., and a second one at 9.45 a.m. to-day. They were of long duration. The apparent direction was from south to north. No damage is reported.
Auckland, February 7. The Natives have turned back two of the Government prospectors in the Kit's: Country.
The foundation stone of St. Mary's 'Pro-Cathedral Church was laid to-duv by the Primate, Bishop Harper. The bodies of Mrs Tumbull and her two young children were found near Whangarei Heads. The mail which arrived here from S;ituoa reports thit the German warship Albatross left Samoa for Tonga oil Jannaiy 17th. A United States war vessel is expected at Apia to look after American interests.
The native village at Malino Peuinsn!a is peifectly deserted. Things are quiet, but the Germans are held in detestation.
PROSPECTING THE KING COUNTRY.
Auckland, February 2. Intelligence from the King Country states that number four party of prospectors, who got as far south as the side of Tuhua, have mot considerable opposition from the Natives, and turned back. This party, which numbers three and five are now afc Waimefcca waiting for the Native meeting, which was to have been held about the eud of last week, and Mr Wilkinson, Native Agent, and Mr Ormsby, Chairman of the Native Committee, were sent for to amnge. Number one party is now at Manakope, in the vicinity of Kawhia. Number two party is st"ill at Mokau. So far not one of the pmies has met with encouraging prospects. The ground numbers two, three, four and five hue been over is entirely of pumice formation. Nothing definite has been heard so fn- fro .1 number one, party.
