Ballarat City, 36 4 5 sece. 1 Ballarat East, 37 sees. ... 2 Nhpier, 38 sees 3 In this event Kumara had a fast run down, 17 seconds, but owint* to the hydrant man being over anxious he had the water on the branchman when within two feet of the platform, and all within 30 seconds. The water had to be turned off twice to enable them to show. ENGINE PRACTICE, DRY, FOR ONE MAN. First Prize, £11; second prize, £6; third prize, £3—in each case trophy or money. Rangiora, 52 sees. ... 1 Kumara, 53 sees. ... 2 Spit, 55 sees. ... 3 Kumara was greatly cheered at this result, as it had been considered a certainty for the Spit. It was their own engine, very large, and heavy gear, aud double as hard to work as the Kumara gear. LADDER RESCUE RACE, FOR TWO MEN.
