[united press assooiation.l Wellington, January 20. The P emier returned this morning. The Samoan chiefs hare visited the Gear Meat Preserving Company’s Works. Subsequently they went on boaid the freezing hulk Juilee, but declined to enter the freezing chamber. They were shown, however, a quantity of snow, which to them was an article they had never seen before in their lives. In the Supreme Court to-day the action Sawkins v. Waipawa Mail for alleged libel contained in an article in that paper, came on. When the case was called on, counsel for the defence stated that the case had been settled by the plaintiff accepting £IOO, without costs. Judgment was entered accoidiogly. Auckland, January 20. The returns of the Harbour Board’s revenue for the past year shows a net sum of £35,181, the largest amount of annual revenue yet received. At the inquest on the body of Famie Yesy, drowned at Motuihi while bathing. the verdict was “ found drowned." The Rationalist newspaper is to be resuscitated and carried on by a Limited Liability Company.
