ANOTHER GERMAN ANNEXATION.

While the Caroline Islands controversy was still unsettled, the Germans quietly annexed the Marshall Group, which cousists of a hundred or more little islands, extending north and south about three hundred miles, and lying just east of the Carolines. Our missionaries have established themselves among the southern islands of the group, and several German and English houses have trading posts and white agents on eight or nine of the larger islands. In this remote regiou of the Western Pacific, Germany has for some time been the leading commercial power. The commerce, however, is very small, and its entire profits probably do not exceed the cost of the three war vessels that Germany keeps in those waters to protect its traders.
