VICTORIAN WHARF LABOURERS’ STRIKE. THE FRESH LABOURERS JOINING THE UNION. (Received January 11, 0.30 a m.) Melbourne, January 9. The forty-five men who were brought over from Adelaide by shipowners have joined the union regardless of the contracts under which they were engaged. Six ot the laborers who came from Sydney have also made common with the strikists. (Received January 11, 1.5 a.m.) January 10. Arrived, the Orient Company’s steamship Garonne, with English mails dated London, December 4. (Received January 11, 1 p.m.) January 11. Fifty more men newly arrived from Adelaide, have joined the Labourers Union. The Argus this morning states that the seamen are dissatisfied with the laying up of steamers, and that they contemplate striking also. They hold a meeting to-night to consider the question.
