Sir John Robertsou has been sent for by the Governor, and is undertaking to form a Ministry. The Assembly has consequently been adjourned until Tuesdaynext, 22nd inst. The Pacific Mail steamship Alameda arrived from Auckland to-night. (Received December 18, 1.30 p.m.) Brisbane, December 18. Two more deaths have occurred on board the Dorunda, the victims being a woman and an infant. By latest accounts no fresh cases have made their appearance. Melbourne, December 18. It is stated that the Hon. G. B. Kerferd, Attorney-General of Victoria, will shortly be elevated to the judicial Bench. The formal prorogation of Parliament takes place to-day. The Assembly did not deal with the Tasmanian Reciprocity Treaty; the measure in consequence shelves until next session. The Victorian shipowners have formed a combination iu order to resist the demands made by the wharf labourers for a large increase of their wages.
