•■•■• GENERAL ELECTIONS TO THE BRITISH PARLIAMENT. (Received December 2, 9.30 p.m.) London, December 1. In the election for Hampstead, the Marquis of Lome was defeated by Sir Henry T. Holland, the Conservative candidate. [special to press association. ] London, November 26. Up to the present, 91 Liberals, 95 Tories, and eight Parnellites have been returned. November 27. During the elections at Nottingham party feeling ran very high, and culminated in a~ riot, during which fifty persons were injured. November 28. Up to the present the Liberals claim 129, Tories 127, Parnellites 18. Mr Gladstone has been returned by a majority of 4600, and the. Marquis of Harrington by 180. Sir William Macarthur, who sat in the last Parliament for Lambeth, has been defeated, being at the bottom of the poll. The Hon. Evelyn Ashley has also been defeated. Glasgow and Nottingham have returned all Liberals. Belfast returned Tories. Mr Justin M'Cartby and T. Sexton have been defeated. Mr O'Dohei ty has been returned unopposed, as was Mr Berry for Belfast. The Hon. James Lowiher and the Hon. Rupert Carrington have beer, defeated, andMcssra W. B. Eorster, Peter Rylands, Sclater Booth, and Chaplin (Chancellor Duchy Lancaster), Sir R. E. Webster (Attorney-General), and R. Chamberlain, have been elected. Bradford and Islington each returned three Liberals. The returns from Ireland show eight Conservatives, and in Scotland three Conservatives are returned. Messrs Parnell and Healy were elected by huge majorities for Cork constituencies bat a protest has been lodged against Mr Parnell, on the ground of his having been wrongly described on the ballot papers. November 30. The latest election returns show that tbe Conservatives have gained the day in 116 boroughs and the Liberals in 107 boroughs.
