(Received October 10, 1 p.m.) Sydney, October 10. A considerable number of parliamentary candidates have expressed themselves in favor of instituting payment of members. (Received October 10, 9 p.m.) Later. Further cases of small-pox have been developed amongst persons isolated at the quarantine station. In to-day's issue of the Government Gazette, the appointment of Sir Patrick Jennings, as Colonial Secretary, and Mr Dibbs, Colonial Treasurer, are officially aunounced. (Received October 12, 1.30 a.m.) Melbourne, October 11. The P. and O. Company's Royal Mail steamsip Shannon arrived this afternoon, from London.
