VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE.

The monthly meeting of the Volunteer Fire Brigade was held in the Town Hall on Wednesday evening ■ present— Captain Burger, Lieut. Brayshaw, Foremen Auderson and 0. Murtha, Branchraen Close and Schuistad, Firemen M'Ewen, Hannah, Ziesrler, Howe, ir tit Keenan, M'Mahon, Gebhardt, Adamson, and Secretary JYI. Gerraghty. The minutes of the previous monthly meeting were read and confirmed. The Treasurer reported a credit balauce of £5 4s Bd. An account for 7s 6d was passed for paj'ment. Foreman Anderson, of the Engine Company, reported all gear in his charge in good order. Foreman C. Murtha reported that the pole of the hook and ladder carriage required a new bolt, the one in it now being broken.—lt was resolved that the apparatus keeper overhaul the hook and ladder carriage and get it repaired, if rpquired. The following comprise the brigademen from which the final team is to be picked to practice for the competition to be held at Napier next January : C. Murtha, Schuistad, F. Smith, Adamson, M'Ewan, Hannah, and M'Mahon. It was resolved that the Captain telegraph to the Secretary of the Brigades Demonstration asking him if tin; Government give a grant this year towards the expenses of brigades going to the Demonstration.

The following vacancies wore filled : Branchman, M. Gerraghby; Member of Engine Compauy, H. Adamsou ; Members of [look and Ladder Company, J. Howe, C. Geblmrdt. Foreman M urt ha proposed J.
