The New Zealand Shipping Company's Rimutaka sailed for New Zealand this morning. London, October 2. Arrived, the Orient Company's Royal Mail steamship Potosi, from Melbourne, August 21. Shaw Savill and Albion Company's steamship Tainni, from Lyttelton August 22, arrived at Plymouth this morning. Her cargo of frozen meat is in good condition. (Received October 5, 12.20 p.m.) October 4. Arrived, the Royal Mail steamship Pariamatta, from Melbourne. A project is now on foot for utilising the Native Indian Army for Imperial purposes. Eight thousand two hundred bales of wool were submitted to auction to-day. There is no change in the tone of the market. (Received October 3, 8.10 p.m.) Cairo, October 2. Advices from Upper Egypt state that a large body of dervishes are encamped within 80 miles of the British outposts, and orders have been given for a regiment from Alexandria to proceed to the front as reinforcements.
