A CAUSE OF NEURALGIA.
The Loudon correspondent of an Ade'aide paper writes : "Every male whose life is described as ' domestic' must have noticed of late the great increase of neuralgic headaches among the ladies of his household. Tbey are not the headaches which are said to be assumed by the female sex, like tears, for the purpose of getting their own way, but serious and painful ailments. The Lancet of a late date ascribes them to a very simple cause, namely, the custom of tightly drawing back the hair and securing it with pins, which irritates the nerves of the scalp. If this be so, the sooner the fashion is altered the better. It suggests nothing to the masculine mind so much as the preparation for 'a good wash,' which, however meritorious in itself, should be an operation of a private nature."
