There was a good attendance at Hawkesbury to witness the first day's races of the Hawkesbury Club Spring Meeting. The racing was of a capital description. The principal events resulted as follows: HAWKESBURY GUINEAS. First Chester ... ... 1 Eagle Grange ... ... 2 Angora ... ... ... 3 Seven horses started, for this race, Nordenfeldt being left at the postFirst Chester won easily by two lengths. Time, lmin. 45secs. THE COUNTY PURSE, for which eleven horses started, resulted in a dead heat between Prodigal and Coolabah for first place, Wanda being third. This was a splendid race from start to finish. Time—lmin. 44Jsecs. The dead heat was not run off, Coolabah being withdrawn, and Prodigal walked over.
