The man Kobinson, charged with robbery from the Hotham branch of the Federal Bank, has been committed for trial, bail being accepted.
Government have received a telegram from the Agent-General, Mr Murray Smith, stating that the whole question of reduction of telegraphic charges is unsettled, pending the result of proposals made by German delegates. Mr Service in his reply, urged Mr Murray Smith fo use every effort to obtain the desired modification of the tariff.

The Victorian Government has requested Admiral Tyron, commanding the Australian station, to despatch a man-of-war to the Auckland Islands, to search for the passengers and crew of the ship North American, which sailed from Melbourne for England in February last, and which has not since been heard of.

The Union Company’s steamship Wakatipu, arrived from Wellington this morning. The same company's steamship Mahinapua left for Auckland this afternoon.
Mr George Augustus Sala, who is a passenger per Manapouri, will commence a tour of New Zealand at the end of next week } his opening lecture will be delivered in Auckland.
