[UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Christchurch, August 17. Mr Cooper, who was injured in the coach accident which cost Mr Hebden his life, died at the hospital about halfpast 11 o'clock last night. At the inquest this afternoon the jury returned a verdict of accidental death. Dunedin, August 16. Since the Tamsui has been at the wharf her crew have been doing a thriving business in selling cigars. Four constables were stationed on the wharf last night, and one arrest has been made. Auckland, August 15. The Volunteer review was held this afternoon in the Domain. Thirteen corps paraded, about 700 to 800 being under arms as follows :—One troop of Cavalry, two batteries of Artillery, one company of Engineers, four companies of Navals, five companies of Rifles. Four corps not having equipments complete did not parade. Colonel Whitmore expressed himself satisfied with the muster and drills. William Taylor, of the brigantine Jessie, was brought up from Mercury Bay, having attempted first to cut his throat and afterwards drown himself. August 17. The ironworkers employed at Onehunga works have struck. They were getting Is per hour, and they demand Is 3d. They allege that they did this in consequence of receiving a notice of reduction to IOJd per hour.
