[REUTERS TELEGRAMS.] By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. A DEFENCE FORCE FOR VICTORIA. DISARMAMENT OP THE STEAMER MASSILIA. (Received August 14, 2.45 p.m.) Melbourne, August 14. The Defence Department intend forming a force numbering 2000, consisting of men whose time of service in the Victorian Militia has expired. (Received August 14, 10.15 p.m.) Sydney, August 14. It is stated here, upon good authority, that the Peninsular and Oriental steamship Company's steamship Massilia, which was fitted up as a cruiser during the recent unsettled state of affairs in Central Asia, and which was stationed at Port Jackson, will shortly be disarmed and return to England.
