Sir Michael Hicks-Beach has given notice that on Thursday, the 13th, he will move that the thanks of Parliament be accorded to the Army and Navy for their services in Egypt. The Royal Commission which was appointed to inquire iuto the causes of the present depression in trade in Great Britain has commenced its labours, under the presidency of the Earl of Iddlesleigh (Sir Stafford Northcote). The majority of the members of the Commission held views favourble to what is known as fair trade, namely, the system of international reciprocity, free trade being allowed to those countries only which admit English products on the same terras. Paris, August 10. Intelligence is to hand from Touqain to the effect that the natives have massacred a large number of Christians, and that fully 1000 fugitives have taken refuge at Quin Hoe.
