WESTLAND COUNTY COUNCIL.

The following is the conclusion of the report of the County Council proceedings ou Wednesday last:— GENTLE ANNIE TRACK. Mr Spence moved, " That the Gentle Annie Terrace track be extended one mile from its present termination, towards the right hand branch of the Kanieri river, under goldfields' vote, and that plans and specifications be prepared for same by next meeting, by the County Engineer."—This track wonld open up a likely looking piece of country for prospecting purposes. Mr M'Goldrick seconded the resolution, which was supported by Mr Jack, and carried without dissent. LEAVE OF ABSENCE. Mr Spence moved, "That one month's leave of absence be granted to Councillor Clarke, from August 12, if Councillor Clarke should be unable to attend the August meeting."—Carried. [The Council adjourned at six o'clock, and resumed at half-past p.m. DUNEDIN FLAT TRACK. Mr Dungan moved, " That a sum of £lO be expeuded in making a foot track through Hobbs and party's claim, Dnnedin Flat, leading to upper part of Shamrock Le»d." This work required to be done. It would enable people on the Shamrock lead to get to Dill man's Town.—Mr M'Whirter seconded the resolution, which was carried on the voices. CLARKE STREET, WAIMEA. Mr Dungan moved, " That the County Engineer be instructed to put Clarke street, Waimea, in a proper state of repair. Cost not to exceed £l2."—Carried. COUNTY RATES. The Chairman moved, " That a general rate of three half-pence in the £ on the rateable value of property within the County, be now made for the year ending 31st March, 1886, and that said rate be pavable in one sum on the 15th July, 1885."—Carried. RETURNING OFFICER. The Chairman moved, "That Henry Richardson Rae be appointed Returning Officer to conduct all elections under the Counties' Act, 1876, and the amending Acts, and under the Licensing Act, 1881, and'amending Acts; said appointment to commence as from Ist July, 1885." The appointment of Mr Rae wonld save expense.—Carried. " The Council adjourned at eight p.m.
