The Kumara Times. Published Every Evening. THURSDAY, JULY 9, 1885.

Our Wellington cm-respondent telegraphs that Government have been defeated on their financial proposals by the large majority of at least twelve. A canens of Government supporters was to be held this morning. He also states that there is a probability of the Ministry resigning, and the Atkinson Administration assuming office. In reference to the telegram yesterday referring to Kumara Hospital subsidies, Mr M'Dermott, the Telegraph Master, has kindly had the unmeaning sentence repeated from Wellington, and it seems it should have read thus ;—" Meantime if,

is unlikely any further subsidies will be fo warded."

The Faust Family arrived by coach this afternoon and will make their first first appearance at the Theatre Royal this evening, when they will go through some of their astounding acrobatic feats, introducing also the national dances of England, Ireland, and Scotland, comic horizontal bar, musical specialities, and marvelous single, double, and triple somersaults. The entertainment is highly spoken of wherever the Faust Family have been, and we doubt not there will be a large number at the Theatre to-night to witness their wonderful performances. Commander Edwin wired at 2.5 p.m. to-day:—"lndicationsof strong winds between south and east and north-east, and weather cold and glass rise." The ordinary meeting of the Borough Council is appointed to be held this evening. The late Henry Morris's share in Mansfield and party's ciaim was sold by auction this afternoon by Mr W. A. Spence, and realised £B3. The Orange Lodge annual celebration ball and supper takes place to-morrow evening. Three substantial prizes have been drawn here in Robin Hood's Racing and Coursing programme, viz., in the Grand National Steeplechase 3978 drew Moonlight, and in the Waterloo Cup 1335 drew Arawa, and 8806 Bannagher. It is likely some cash bonds are also drawn for Kumara. Result slips are expected by Saturday's mail. The Brunnerton correspondent of the Argus wrote yesterday :—"The Coal Pit Heath mine is again stopped owing to some of the pump gear bursting. It is not likely that there will be any more coal from this mine for two or three days. A gang of men are busily employed rigging temporary gear."

Special Notice to the Public—Vance Klaus H assalaer will be selling in Kumara this week. His father also, Mr Von Don Fidegron Hassalaer, has just arrived from England, with a large stock of Boots and Shoes, which he is going to offer to the public at prices which defy competition, on Thursday, and following days. Those who are running about barefooted should wait until Mr Yon Don Fidegron Hassalaer arrives, which will be on Thursday next.—[Advt.[ A Rattlesnake's Bite.
