THE CYCLONE AT ADEN

A fierce cyclone occurred at Aden on June 3rd. It was the most disastrous that ever visited the region since the British occupation in 1839. The wind destroyed nearly every bungalow in the place. The iron roof on the Government shed on the jetty was blown away. Great damage was done to the shipping at anchor in the port. Many barges were sunk, and numbers of steam launches, and the men-of-war Turquoise and Reindeer wore driven by force of the wind so hard that tbej' broke their moorings, and narrowly escaped being wrecked. The Eastern telegraph lines are all broken.
