WESALAND LANDS BOARD.
A meeting of the Lands Board was held at the Crown Lands Office, Hokitika, on Wednesday afternoon; present the Chief Commissioner (J. Giles, Esq.), Messrs Robinson, Northcrofc, and Paterson. A letter was read from the Clerk, Grey County Council, respecting the Greenstone Cemetery Reserve. It was resolved, that the Government he recommended to vest the Greenstone Cemetery in the Grey Gonnty Council. On a motion by Mr Robinson, seconded by MrNorthcroft, it was resolved to record upon the minutes a sense of the loss sustained by the Board, owing to the departmental changes involving the removal of the Chief Commissioner, Dr. Giles. Mr Robinson expressed his appreciation of the courtesy and urbanity unifornih' extended to the Board by Dr, Giles, and testified to the great ability displayed by him in conducting the business of the Board. The other members briefly endorsed (be rrmarks, and the motion was unanimously agieed to. Dr. Giles, in thanking the Board for
their kind resolution said, he felt sorry at parting from them, although he found the work occasionally pressed heavily on his time, which was busily occupied by other duties. He felt save that in Mr Mueller, his successor, the Board would find a gentleman thoroughly conversant with the work, and one with whom he was sure the Board would work harmoniously. Personally he thanked the present and previous members for the cordial manner in which their relations had always been maintained. The meeting then terminated.
