The arrangements for the recption of the New South Wales Contingent are completed. The programme includes a grand military display, in which 3500 Volunteers will be engaged. The Government have finally decided that the Contingent shall land at 10.30 a.m. on Tuesday. The Review will be held in Moore Park, where the Governor will deliver an address to the troops. The Contingent will then march to the Barracks, where they will be dismissed. Tuesday has been proclaimed a public holdiday throughout the colony. Adelaide, June 17. The barque Fannie M., bound from Newcastle to Wallaroo, has run ashore on Kangaroo Island. She took fire after striking and is now ablaze from stem to stern. ♦ OPENING OF THE VICTORIAN PARLIAMENT. THE GOVERNOR'S SPEECH. (Received June 17, 11 p.m.) Melbourne, Jane 17. The Victorian Parliament was opened to-day by his Excellency Sir Henry Loch. The speech from the Throne acknowledges the prompt response made by all classes of the community to the demands of the Government for increased naval and military protection for the colony. It is expected that during the coming session Government" will be able to submit to Parliament a measure for giving effect to the Enabling Act passed by the Imperial Government providing for the federation of the colonies. Reference is made to the reciprocity treaty recently coucluded between Victoria and Tasmania, the details of which will be submitted for the approbation of Parliament. Various bills are announced, including a measure for combining the duties of the Pilot Board and the Steam Navigation Board, and an Act to Amend the Electoral Laws of the Colony. The speech concludes with a congratulation on the flourishing condition of the colony generally.
