[REUTERS TELEGRAMS.] By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. AUSTRALIAN MUTUAL PROVIDENT SOCIETY DELAY IN SAILING THE PACIFIC MAIL STEAMER. PITTING OUT THE MASSILIA AS AN ARMED CRUISER. (Received April 22, 5 p.m.) Sydney, April 22. The thirty-sixth annual report of the Australian Mutual Provident Society was issued this afternoon. The new business acquired during the past year comprises 8866 policies, assuring £2,262,402. The new premiums income amounts to £106,364. The

accumulated funds of the Society are £5,371,466, and the total annual income £1,074,952. The report of the Actuary on the first annual division of profits shews a cash surplus for the year of £411,847, of which £262,424 will be divided amongst policy-holders. It ia intended that future bonuses shall become available after policies have endured two years, and surrender values be paid after a similar period has elapsed. (Received April 23, noon.) April 23. Owing to the difficulty which has arisen between the Seamen's Union and the Pacific Mail Company, the Company has been compelled to postpone the departure of the Zealandia uutil Saturday next. The work of fitting out the steamship Massilia as an armed cruiser is being proceeded with here, under the supervision of the Imperial naval authorities. She will carry a crew of Melbourne, April 22.
