[united press association.] ATTEMPTED MURDER, A CHASE, AND SUICIDE. Auckland, April 16. M'Kelvie, who attempted to murder T. Stewart on Thursday last, has not yet been captured. He was seen entering Titirangi bush, about five miles from here, and about a dozen constables are in. pursuit. Later. Further intelligence is now to hand regarding M'Kelvie's suicide. Detective Hughes and mounted Constable Kelly had been hunting for him all yesterday and last night, and this morning they got on his track and pursued him to the vicinity of an old black house, about eight miles from here. When they were within 150 yards of him he disappeared to some scrub and immediately after they heard a shot fired. They subsequently found him quite dead, with a bullet wound in his head. His body is now being brought to town. The body of M'Kelvie was brought to town to-day by Detective Hughes and Trooper Kelly to wait an inquest. Deceased's son told the police before going in pursuit that his father would never be taken alive.
