(Received March 16, 10.50 p.m.) Sydney, March 16. Arrived, yesterday, the Manapouri from Auckland. Parliament meets tomorrow. It is expected that a bill of indemnity in connection with the Soudan contingent will be carried by a large majority, but only after a sharp debate. (Received March 17, 1.5 a.m.) Melbourne, March 16. The evening papers contradict the statement made by the Age that precautions are deemed necessary for the protection of public buildings in this city. Governor Jervois has returned to Melbourne from Adelaide. The Age reasserts the acccuracy of its statement as to the precautions taken for the safety of various public buildings. It is statfid that the Indian Government has engaged forty-nine steamers of British India, and four Peninsular and Oriental Company's as transports.
