The Kumara Times. Published Every Evening. FRIDAY, MARCH 6, 1885.

At the annual congregational meeting of the Presbyterian Church on Wednesday evening, it was decided to request the Rev. George Hay, pastor of the Kumara and Stafford churches, not to resign his charge until the Presbytery shall have given the congregation an opportunity of stating whether it is in the interest of the parish that he should resign at this time. A more extended report of the proceedings is given in another column. Statements of receipts and expenditure in connection with the Church are also published in our advertising columns. At the Resident Magistrate's Court this morning, before D. Macfarlane, Esq., R.M., William Morgan appeared to answer a charge of assault, occasioning bodily harm, on Ah Shum, of the ThreeMile. Mr Purkiss appeared for the informant ; Mr Kitchingham (of Guinness and Kitchingham) for the accused. Upon the application of the informant, with the consent of the accused, the information was withdrawn by leave of the Court. Notice.—Auction of drapery.—Vance Klaus Hassalaer wishes to inform the public of Kumara and surrounding districts that he has brought with him a large stock of drapery, which must be sold at a great discount. He also has on hand several tons of Hour, in sacks of 200 cwt., price, 24s per sack, guaranteed.
