THE MINISTERIAL VISIT

The Hon. R. Stoufc, Premier, and the Hon. W. J. M. Larnacb, C.M.G. Minister of Mines, together with his Worship the Mayor of Hokitika, Mr Bevau, M.H.R., the Hon. J. A. Bonar, the Town Clerk, Messrs Clarke and Daly, M.0.C.5., members of the Hokitika Harbor Board and Borough Council, and several promiuent citizens, started for Ross via Mahinapua Creek and lake, yesterday. The hour of departure was fixed for half-past eight a.m., but ib was after nine before Mr Daly's little steamer left the wharf. On arriving at Ogilvie's, the various vehicles sent roand to take tbe party to Ross were in attendance, and a start was at once made for Ross. Ministers would return to Hokitika to day. At the meeting of the Reception Committee last night, it was resolved that in addition to the banquet, the committee make arrangements for a ball, and this is accordingly advertised; double tickets, 15s, and single tickets, 10s 6d each. The name of D. Hannan, Esq., was added to the Committee. The business people and miners are publicly requested to meet the ministers at the Borough boundary, near Mr James Wylde's, to-morrow evening at five o'clock. The Brass Band will be present, and discourse suitable music for the march into Kumara. As soon after as convenient the Reception Committee (which includes the members of the Borough Council) will interview the Ministers relative to a reduction of the price of water. At eight o'clock the Premier will deliver a lecture in the Theatre Royal. The subject has not yet transpired, but we understand it will be of a character interesting to all sections of the community; and seats will be reserved specially for ladies.
