GENERAL NEWS.
The number of workmen out of employment on the banks of the Tyne, between Newcastle and Tynemoutb, is estimated to be between 10,000 and 12,000.
The fund for the widow and family of the late Mr A. M. Sullivan has reached £SOOO. An effort will be made to raise at least £IO,OOO. The Archbishop of Dublin has resigned his office, and intimated his desire to forego his retiring allowance. It is stated that at the next general election Mr Parnell will stand for the City of Dublin. The result of the poll for County Down shows that Captain Kerr (Conservative) received 4387 votes, sis against 3998 votes recorded for Mr Sharman Crawford (Liberal). The Conservative majority was thus 389.
