[united press association.] Nelson, January 15. The Motueka correspondent of the Colonist wires as follows:—" G. Bisley shot himself this morning. An inquest was held at 3 p.m. His monetary affairs are believed to be in a bad state." The unfortunate man was headmaster of the Government school, and also secretary to the Forresters and Oddfellows lodges in this district. He leaves a wife and large family. Wellington, January 15.

Two shocks of earthquake were felt here a few minutes after six this evening. They were also felt at Woodville. Dr. Diver, a well known and popular practitioner, died at 6.30 this evening. He had been ailing for some two months and took a trip to Sydney for the benefit of his health, but returned here ten days ago, and has been confined to his bed ever since. It is understood that deceased's lungs were seriously affected. General regret is felt at his death.
