The yield of gold for the past year was iucorrectly stated in last night’s report. The total yield is 774,000 ounces, the increase for the year being 44,500 ounces.
The Hon. Mr Service, Premier, proposes that a conference of Premiers of the various Australasian colonies be held here in a fortnight’s time, to consider the present aspect of the annexation question.
(Received January 10, 1.15 p.m.) January 10. The projected annexation of Samoa by the New Zealand Government excites deep interest here. A private telegram is received here stating that the German Consul at Samoa has concluded a treaty with the King, in terms of which three States in the Council are allotted to German subjects, with greatly increased influence.
(Received January 10, 1.25 a.m.) Sydney, January 9. Sailed, this afternoon, the Wairarapa, for Auckland. Bishop Luck is a passenger.
No fresh cases of small pox are re ported to the Health Board.
