The cargo of frozen mutton, ex steamship Uorunda was placed in the market in good condition, the hind quarters selling at sd, and the fore quarters at 4d. (Received January 10, 12.40 p.m.) January 9. Tenders for the New Zealand Government loan of £1,000,000 were opened to-day. The total amount tendered for was £398,000. Tenders at £99 6s 6d will be allotted.in full.

Great rejoicings were held to-day at Sandringham, the seat of the Prince of Wales, to celebrate the coming of age of Prince Albert Victor, and several congratulatory addresses were presented to his Royal Highness. The alleged discovery of a secret society of dynamiters at Pennsylvania is not generally believed here.
(Received January 10, 12.40 p.m.) Capetown, January 9. The Aorangi, with the New Zealand mails, dated London December 20th, sailed for New Zealand to-day. Washington, January 9. The Foreign Committee of the Senate has reported in favor of ratifying a treaty with Nicai’agua for establishing control over the Panama Canal, notwithstanding the objections which were made thereto by the British Government.

[special to press association. | London, January 5. Sir F. D. Bell has expressed to Lord Derby his regret at the proposed annexation of the New Hebrides by France. The Rev. John G. Patton, a Presbyterian Missionary who was for many years stationed at the island of Amina, of the New Hebrides group, has written a letter to the “ Pall Mall Gazette” pleading that the group may be annexed by England.
January 6. Commodore Erskiue has been authorised to hoist the British flag on the Louisiade Archipelago and the Woodlark Islands.
New Zealand is pledged to only borrow an additional million and ahalf until April, 18S6. The French forces under General Mezrier are marching on Langson. The Times is making daily attacks on the Government in connection with their action in the Pacific.
Lord Roseberry, Sir Frederic Leighton, President of the Royal Academy, and Sir Saul Samuel are arranging for a statue of the Queen.
England is at present parleying with Germany in reference to New Guinea.
