CHRISTMAS SPORTS

The Sports Committee met again last evening; present—The Chairman (J. S. Pearn, Esq.), Messrs Burger, Home, Rugg, Mulvihill, Ziegler, Anderson, and G. Wood (Secretary). Messrs Pearn and Rugg reported having canvassed Main street, and received or were promised to the amount of £4O, and only two refusals. Messrs Burger, Gilbert Stewart, and 0. W. Anderson reported having canvassed Seddon street, and received or were promised £34, and felt quite confident that amount would Be increased to £4O. The reports were received.

Messrs Pearn and Burger were appoinied tn wait on Mr Rocbford, the Secretary to the Brass Band, and arrange, if pr.ictiraM,.. ;' ;• the services . f the Baud duriug the suytts.

It was resolved that the sports commence at one o'clock and close at six punctually on each day. Messrs Iveech and Malloy having kindly offered the use of their paddock, the Secretary was instructed to acknowledge the same, and state that as the Committee's arrangements were so far advanced they (the Committee) could not accept of it, but would be most happy to do so on a future occasion.

Mr J. O'Hagan's name was added to the Committee.

A letter from the Volunteer Fire Brigade was received. A programme of the Sports was then arranged and finally adopted.—[This appears in another column.] The following gentlemen were appointed bandicappers :—Messrs Thimbleby, Barnett, Peam, and Holroyd. Measrs Peam, Burger, Rugg, Anderson, and Zieglev were appointed an emergency committee ; three to form a quorum.

It was resolved to call for tenders for keeping two booths and one fruit and confectionery stall. The Committee then adjourned till Monday next at 8 p.m.
