CHILDREN’S NEW YEAR PICNIC.

A goodly number of the committee of gentlemen appointed and desirous of carrying out the arrangements necessary for giving the school children of Kumara their customary annual picnic on New Year’s Day assembled at the Town Hall last evening. • These were present—His Worship the Mayor (D. Hannan, Esq,), R. J. Seddon, Esq., M. Messrs Burger, W. Barnett, N. Seddon, M'Lennan, W. S. Hanna, Rudkin, Ziegler, Palmer, Brayshaw, and Gibson.

Mr R. J. Seddon, was elected chair, man of the Picnic Committee. Mr G. Rudkin was appointed Secretary and Treasurer.

The following resolutions were carried:—

That the Picnic be held on New Year’s Day, as usual. That the name of Mr Burrell be added to the Committee, That with the consent of the School Committee, the children of the State School be furnished with lists for collecting subscriptions, and that Mr Woodward be asked to distribute the same.

That the Revs. R. Heffernan, G. Hay and J. Hosking, Messrs Seddon, W. Barnett, and his Worship the Mayor, wait upon Messrs Keech and Malloy with reference to the nse of their paddock, and, failing that, that the Committee secure the Recreation Ground.

That the action of Mr Seddon re the Kumara Band be approved of—that the services of the Band be secured and that the Chairman and Secretary arrange with them as to terms.

That bis Worship the Mayor elect, R. J. Seddon, Esq., and the Secretary wait upon the committee of the Literary Institute and Dramatic Club to arrange as to the entertainment to be given on New Year’s night; the proceds to go to Picnic Committee in lieu of Literary Society, and that same sub-committee arrange as to Theatre. That the Chairman and Secretary wait upon Mr Rugg re the Merry-go-Round.

That his Worship the Mayor, the Mayor elect, Messrs Seddon, Barnett, and Rudkin be a standing sub committee to deal with' all matters of urgency; three to form a quorum. That five members of the general committee constitute a quorum. That Robt. Wylde, Esq,, be asked to head the subscription lists. That Messrs Seddon, Burger, and Barnett collect subscriptions in Seddon street.

That this meeting adjourn to Decern ber 12, at 8 o’clock p.m.
