KUMARA SCHOOL DISTRICT
The Kumara Local School Committee met in the Town Hall on Tuesday evening; present—Mr R. J, Seddon (Chairman), Messrs F. Barrowman, Burger, Campbell (Hon. Sec.), and Yoysey.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read confirmed.
The outward correspondence was read and approved of.
It was resolved that Mr Woodward’s letter and Inspector Smith’s Report be given to the Press for publication. Messrs R. J, Seddon and J. M'Whirter were nominated for seats on the Education Board.
In recognition of the very able and satifactory manner in which Mr Woodward has performed his duties as head teacher at the Kumara School, the Committee have resolved to take the steps necessary to provide funds for procuring a suitable testimonial for presentation to him at a future date. Approximate estimates of the value of schools, dwelling-houses, fittings, and other property owned by the Board at Ist December, 1884, were submitted for sending to the Secretary to the Board of Education, The estimated value of the school buildings, including outhouses, at Kumara, were set down at ■£looo • and of the teacher’s dwelling, including outhouses, £l5O. Tho esti-
mated value of the school buildings at Ranginri were set down at £SO, and the teacher’s dwelling at £SO, The passing of the caretaker’s two months’ stipend concluded the business of the meeting.
