H.M. guDboat Swinger, which has arrived at Cooktown, announces that the protectorate over New Guinea was proclaimed on the 6th inst. The ceremony was a very impressive one. Five ships of war lay at anchor off shore, and fifty native chiefs were present. Adelaide, November 14.

Arrived, this afternoon, the Lusitania, from Plymouth, with the inward Brindisi mails, dated LyndoD, October 10th.
