Arrived, last night, the Orient steamship Potosi, with the Brindisi mails, dated London, 29th August. Sydney, October 3. Arrived, last night, the Union steamship Wakatipu, from Wellington. Sailed, this evening, the Waihora, for Auckland. In the Legislative Assembly to-day, the Land Bill, as amended by the Upper House, was again under consideration. In committee the House declined to accept the proposal to lay the bill aside. (Received October 4, 12.40 p.m.) October 4. There are two fresh cases of smallpox at Melbourne; and two at Berwick, reported yesterday.
