COLONIAL REVENUES. ARRIVAL OF A GERMAN WARSHIP AT SYDNEY. (Received October 1, 10.5 p.m.) Sydney, October 1. The New South Wales revenue for the quarter ended September 30 amounted to £1,580,000 being an increase of £190,000 as compared with the corresponding quarter of last year. The increases are shown in receipts from the Customs, Land, Railway, and the Postal service. (Received October 1, 2.15 p.m.) Adelaide, October 1. The revenue of South Australia last quarter amounted to £508,000, being an .increase of £14,000 as compared with the corresponding quarter of 1883. The Customs revenue decreased by £22,000 while the Railway receipts increased by £26,000. Melbourne, October 1.
The revenue of this colony last quarter amounted to £1,450,000, being an increase of £139,000 as compared with the September quarter of last year. The Customs revenue increased by £33,000, chiefly owing to the extra duty now levied on spirits. The Excise revenue increased by £14,000, and that from Railways by £B6OO. (Received October 2, 1 p.m.) October 2. In the Legislative Assembly last night, the Premier, in reply to a question, said Government had wired to the Agent-General in London drawing attention to the arrival of the German warship Elizabeth at Sydney.
