Dunedin, September 18,
An accident occurred to the driver of the ten o’clock train to Port Chalmers this morning. While passing Stuartstreet crossing, Amos, the driver, leaned over, when his head struck an old notice-board close to the line and knocked him off the engine, Amos was picked up insensible, but recovered consciousness in a few minutes, and was found not to have sustained any serious injury. The engine was going fifteen miles an hour.
September 19,
At Shag Point yesterday at noon, two little children about three years old were missed. One was a girl named Paterson, and the other a boy named Hollis. Search 'was made all the afternoon without avail, and the conclusion come to was that they had fallen over the cliffs into the sea. This conclusion proved to be correct, as today the little girl’s body was washed up on the beach. The father of the girl Paterson works at the Brunner mine, West Coast; and Hollis left Shag Point two days ago to seek for employment, and it is at present unknown where he is.
Wellington, September 18. The Hinemoa leaves to-morrow morning for Picton and Nelson with members of the House. She returns on Tuesday morning.

A settler named Mackensen was drowned yesterday morning while attempting to cross the Manawatu river on foot at the ford leading to Puketoi. The body has not been recovered.
