Wellington, September 10. The Australia, with London August mails on board, left San Francisco for Auckland on the 30th ult. Her time table date.
The Zealandia, with August colonial mails from Auckland, arrived at San Francisco on 7th inst., three days in advance of the time-table date.
Poppens and M'Grath, the two absconding publicans, are on board the Wakatipu, which left Sydney for Wellington yesterday, Joshua Beard, a miner, died at the hospital this morning from injuries received while blasting with dynamite at Ngahauranga on Saturday last. The charge exploded prematurely, and the man was injured about the head by pieces of rock. The wreck of the Lastingham was sold by auction this afternoon. There was a large number of persons present. The hull, masts, and yards, &c., were purchased by Mr Hassell, auctioneer. The same gentleman also purchased the cargo for £320. Auckland, September 10. Patrick Moran, who attempted suicide on Monday last, died in the hospital last night.
