The homeward mails via Suez and Briudisi, dated Melbourne, July 29, were delivered here yesterday. The survivors from the yacht Mignonette were brought up before the Police Court to-day, pending the decision of the Treasury as to the necessity for prosecuting them for the murder of the boy who was killed and eaten. Intelligence to hand from the west coast of Africa regarding the annexation of Lieut. Cameron's trading station at Bimbia, by the German Commissioner, Dr. Nachtigal, proves that the natives of the district are hostile to Germans, and refused to give allegiance to the imperial officers.

Over six hundred fresh cases of cholera occurred here during the past twenty-four hours, and 270 deaths are reported to have taken place during the same time.
